About Us

The Urban Mission is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit that was formed in 1972 when the congregation of Second Presbyterian Church was dissolved.  Trustees of the property decided to leave the building as a type of neighborhood outreach center.  In 2000, The Urban Mission moved to our current location at 3737 N. Portland.  This move gave the organization the space to help many more people.  The Urban Mission has come from serving a few families each month to assisting approximately 20,000 people each year in the Oklahoma City metro area.  Our funds are secured from private, individual donations. Volunteers are essential to our operation.  The community comes together through The Urban Mission to help one another.
